Men and nature: an appointment with water! |

The adventure between the Valaisans and the natural elements is long and beautiful story. The combat to control irrigation by the peasants gave rise to the many bisses “small water channels” in the Valais.
Built into the hillside or clutching the rock faces, these water channels cling to the mountain sides, thread through the vines or sink into the valley.
Bordered by stony paths, they will take you to the most authentic sites, in larch forests or to the edge of marvellous small mountain lakes. Along the meandering path, perhaps you will see the GRANDE DIXENCE dam, the highest gravity dam in the world, a technological masterpiece 285meters high, retaining 400 million m3 of water ready to feed the electricity factories.
Lastly, not to be missed, the UNDERGROUND LAKE of Saint Léonard, the largest underground lake in Europe, a curiosity of international significance.
